On September 24, 2026, National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. shares made their market debut on the stock exchanges. The stock listed at ₹1,800.00 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), reflecting a 0.84% gain over its IPO issue price of ₹1,785.00 per share.  

Note that because NSE cannot list its own equity shares on its own platform, its shares are exclusively listed and traded on the BSE. 

NSE IPO Overview 

The National Stock Exchange of India Limited IPO is a book build issue with a total size of up to ₹22,562 crore. The offering consists entirely of an offer for sale of 12,64,36,650 shares. 

The subscription window opened on September 17, 2026, and closed on September 21, 2026. The set price band ranges from ₹1,700 to ₹1,785 per share, with a lot size comes at 8 shares based on upper price.  

The minimum application amount for an individual retail investor is ₹14,280. The listing is likely on the BSE with a tentative listing date of September 24, 2026, as per news reports.  

Kotak Mahindra Capital Co. Limited acts as the book running lead manager, while MUFG Intime India Pvt. Limited serves as the registrar. 

The NSE IPO Subscribed 5.71 times. 

Business Overview of NSE 

Incorporated in 1992, National Stock Exchange of India Limited is the largest stock exchange in India and a leading global multi-asset exchange platform.  

It operates a vertically integrated ecosystem that spans trading, clearing, settlement, listing, market data, index services, and regulatory oversight.  

As of June 30, 2026, the exchange supports over 261.36 million registered investor accounts, 1,328 trading members, and 3,005 listed companies.  

NSE reported market shares of 99.79% in cash market, 74.71% in equity futures and 99.48% in equity options as of March 31, 2026. 

Subsidiary businesses like NSE Clearing Limited and NSE Indices Limited add diverse non-trading revenue streams. 

Financial Overview of NSE 

The consolidated financial statements demonstrate a highly profitable enterprise, though performance contracted slightly in the recent full fiscal year.  

For the fiscal period ending March 31, 2026, total income stood at ₹18,713.37 crore, marking a 2% decline compared to the ₹19,176.83 crore recorded on March 31, 2025. Similarly, profit after tax dropped by 15% to ₹10,302.06 crore down from ₹12,187.69 crore in the previous year.  

For the latest quarter ending June 30, 2026, the company recorded total income of ₹5,252.17 crore and a profit after tax of ₹3,120.08 crore. As of June 30, 2026, total assets stood at ₹91,334.07 crore, while net worth was ₹34,983.74 crore  

Objective of NSE IPO 

As the IPO is entirely an Offer for Sale, NSE will not receive any proceeds from the issue. The proceeds will accrue to the selling shareholders. 

Major corporate entities liquidating portions of their holdings include State Bank of India with a divestment of ₹2,850.54 crore, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board at ₹2,119.52 crore, Aranda Investments at ₹2,007.47 crore, and MS Strategic at ₹1,963.50 crore, among other institutions.

As of September 24, 2026, at 10:02 AM, National Stock Exchange of India share price on BSE was trading at ₹1,839.80, up by 3.07% from the IPO issue price of ₹1,785.00. 

Conclusion 

National Stock Exchange of India equity shares opened at almost a flat premium of ₹1,800.00 on the BSE, crossing above the company's fixed IPO upper issue price of ₹1,785.00 per share.
