Jio Platforms' proposed IPO will bring its telecom and digital business into separate financial reporting, as per news report.

Until now, its operating figures have been included in Reliance Industries' consolidated quarterly results, making it difficult to assess the telecom business independently using those results alone.

Reliance Jio Infocomm, a material subsidiary of Jio Platforms, had 524.4 million customers as of March 31, 2026, as per an ICICI Direct analysis of the offer document. Of these, 268.5 million were on the 5G network by March 2026.

Data Usage and Broadband

At the JIO Platforms IPO media meet on October 15, Akash Ambani, managing director of Jio Platforms, said the company had around 53 crore customers and accounted for more than 60% of India's digital traffic. The average monthly data consumption was 43.7 GB per user.

Jio had around 30 million home broadband customers, with its network reaching nearly 40 million homes out of an estimated 300 million households.

Ambani said 40% of new additions came from outside tier-I and tier-II cities, with wireless last-mile technology supporting the expansion.

The draft prospectus also refers to an Analysys Mason industry report, which cites Jio's pan-India reach and customer base among the factors that distinguish it from other telecom operators, according to Upstox.

Revenue and Earnings

Jio Platforms' revenue rose from around ₹1.09 lakh crore to more than ₹1.46 lakh crore over three years, according to Ambani. The increase represents a compound annual growth rate of 15.8%.

EBITDA grew from approximately ₹54,000 crore to over ₹76,000 crore during the same period. The EBITDA margin stood at 53.3% in the June quarter.

After listing, Jio Platforms will report its operating and financial figures separately each quarter. Investors will be able to track subscriber numbers, 5G adoption, data consumption and margins without relying on Reliance Industries' consolidated results.

Conclusion

Following the listing, Jio Platforms will report its operating figures and financial results independently. Subscriber numbers, 5G adoption, data consumption and margins will be available separately from Reliance Industries' consolidated results.
