Telecom Unit Accounts for Nearly 94% of Jio Platforms' Profit Before IPO

As Jio Platforms prepares for its initial public offering (IPO), its Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) highlights the overwhelming financial contribution of its licensed telecom entity, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), to the consolidated group's bottom line.
While Jio Platforms is evolving into a broader technology and digital services platform, the core digital connectivity business housed within RJIL remains the primary engine of revenue and profitability.
Dominance in Profitability and Revenue
According to the RHP's restated consolidated financial data, RJIL's contribution to the consolidated PAT stood at 93.76% (₹281,732 million) in Fiscal 2026, and 92.31% (₹71,669 million) for the three months ended June 30, 2026.
Similarly, RJIL accounted for 94.88% of the consolidated EBITDA in Fiscal 2026 and 87.74% of the consolidated Revenue from Operations. In Fiscal 2026, RJIL generated a standalone revenue of ₹1,288,714 million from its pan-India mobility and fixed broadband services.
The Licensed Entity Advantage
RJIL operates under a unified license issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and holds the company's massive spectrum portfolio. As of June 30, 2026, RJIL held 26,800.8 MHz of spectrum with an average remaining life of 15.8 years.
It is the only operator in India to possess low-band, mid-band, and millimeter-wave spectrum for 5G across all circles, enabling it to deliver the high-capacity network that drives the group's financial performance.
Strategic Deleveraging via JIO Platforms IPO Proceeds
The RHP also notes that RJIL holds significant borrowings, including external commercial borrowings (ECBs) utilized for 5G infrastructure deployment and spectrum acquisition.
A primary object of the Jio Platforms IPO is to utilize up to ₹275,000 million of the Net Proceeds to prepay, in full or in part, certain outstanding borrowings of RJIL. This progressive deleveraging is expected to significantly reduce net debt and associated servicing costs, further strengthening the consolidated balance sheet.

Conclusion
While Jio Platforms boasts a diverse array of digital applications, enterprise IoT, and AI initiatives, RJIL's telecom operations remain the undisputed financial bedrock of the enterprise. The upcoming IPO's focus on deleveraging RJIL's balance sheet will be a key catalyst for unlocking long-term shareholder value.
