BSE IPO Index Rises 35% in April-August; SME IPO Index Jumps 55%

The BSE IPO Index has had a strong first five months of FY27. It climbed 35% between April and August 2026, taking the index to a record high and marking its best performance for this period in three years, as per The Economic Times news report.
The BSE SME IPO Index moved even faster, rising 55% during the same period. It was around 5% below its own record level.
IPO Indices Outpace Broader Market
The rise in IPO stocks was considerably higher than the gains recorded by the broader market during April-August. The Sensex and Nifty added 6% each, while the BSE MidCap 150 and BSE SmallCap 250 rose 19% and 29%, respectively.
But the rally was far from evenly spread across the IPO universe.
A Few Stocks Drove Most Of The Gains
The BSE IPO Index has 73 stocks. Of the 4,661 points added between April and August, 15 stocks contributed 3,738 points, accounting for nearly 80% of the increase.
The group included Meesho, Lenskart Solutions, Tata Capital, Billionbrains Garage Ventures, Rubicon Research, LG Electronics India, Physicswallah, Urban Company, Shadowfax Technologies, Sudeep Pharma, ICICI Prudential Assets, Aequs, Emmvee Photovoltaic Power, Fujiyama Power Systems and Clean Max Enviiro Energy Solutions.
The concentration was even more visible in the SME segment.
SME IPO Gains Were Highly Concentrated
The 105-stock BSE SME IPO Index gained 38,772 points during the five-month period. Twenty-four companies accounted for 34,472 points of that increase, or nearly 89%.
The remaining 56 gainers added 6,520 points, while 25 stocks reduced the index by 2,220 points.
Among the contributors were Zelio E Mobility, Indo SMC, Airfloa Rail Tech, Exato Tech, SK Minerals & Additives, LT Elevator, Aptus Pharma and Purple Wave Infocom.

Conclusion
IPO stocks have clearly outpaced the broader market so far in FY27, although most of the gains have come from a relatively small set of companies. The SME IPO index has recorded an even sharper rise, with 24 stocks responsible for nearly 89% of its advance.
