Hero MotoCorp has extended its partnership with Harley-Davidson to broaden the Harley-Davidson X440 lineup and co-develop a new motorcycle model. The collaboration, which began in 2020, aims to cater to domestic and select international markets, combining Harley-Davidson’s legacy with Hero MotoCorp’s manufacturing expertise.

Expanding the Harley-Davidson X440 Lineup

The Harley-Davidson X440 has proven to be a success in the Indian market, priced between ₹2.4 lakh and ₹2.8 lakh. Its local production by Hero MotoCorp has boosted accessibility while maintaining Harley-Davidson’s high standards. The new agreement builds on this success, introducing additional variants to the X440 lineup to meet the growing demand in the premium motorcycle segment. The X440 competes directly with Royal Enfield, marking Harley-Davidson’s re-entry into the competitive market.

Collaboration for a New Motorcycle Model

Beyond the X440, the extended agreement includes the development and contract manufacturing of a brand-new motorcycle. Harley-Davidson, which exited India in 2019 due to high import duties and low sales, re-entered the market through its partnership with Hero MotoCorp. This collaboration leverages Hero’s extensive manufacturing capabilities at its Neemrana facility while incorporating Harley-Davidson’s international design and development expertise.
