Scheme Launch and Objective
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced the scheme in October 2025, highlighting that it would benefit approximately 31,34,000 women. An annual budget of ₹3,800 crore has been allocated for its implementation.
The initiative is part of Kerala’s broader objective to enhance social security for marginalised women, including trans women, by providing financial aid and support.
Conclusion
The Sthree Suraksha Scheme is a focused welfare programme for Kerala’s unemployed women and trans women from low-income backgrounds. By offering financial security of ₹1,000 monthly, the scheme aims to bridge the welfare gap for those not covered under other existing pension schemes.
