Tripura Launches State Innovation Mission Under AIM 2.0 to Boost Startups and AI

Tripura has become the first State to operationalise a State Innovation Mission under the Atal Innovation Mission framework. The initiative positions innovation and entrepreneurship at the centre of the State’s long-term development strategy.
Institutional Framework and Startup Push
The State Innovation Mission has been launched under AIM 2.0, led by NITI Aayog. It has been institutionalised under the Tripura Institution for Transformation and will anchor the State’s innovation agenda through structured policy and ecosystem support.
Chief Minister Manik Saha announced the launch of T-NEST, an incubation and innovation hub designed to promote “Make from Tripura” solutions. Innovation Centres will also be established across all 8 districts, with a focus on encouraging women and tribal communities to participate in the innovation ecosystem.
The State introduced one of India’s first District Innovator Fellowships to identify grassroots innovators and provide lifecycle support. Tripura also plans to unveil a State AI Policy and develop an AI City in Agartala with backing from global technology partners.
National Backing and Vision
The launch event was attended by Suman Bery, Jitendra Singh and V. K. Saraswat. Speaking at the event, Jitendra Singh highlighted the shift towards innovation-led development, stating that States can leverage AIM to unlock local potential and drive growth.
Deepak Bagla, Mission Director of AIM, said the effort aligns with the vision of innovation-led Aatmanirbharat, adding that empowering States ensures “talent from every district” contributes to national progress.
