The 22nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) was released on 13 March 2026 in Guwahati, Assam. Under this phase, nearly 9.32 crore eligible farmers, including over 2.15 crore women beneficiaries, received financial assistance amounting to about ₹18,640 crore.

The funds were transferred directly into bank accounts via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and the removal of intermediaries.

Launched on 24 February 2019, PM-KISAN is a centrally sponsored scheme designed to provide assured income support to landholding farmer families across India. Under the scheme, each eligible family receives ₹6,000 annually, disbursed in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 through DBT into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, ensuring timely and secure delivery.

Cumulative Disbursement and Eligibility Requirements

So far, over ₹4.27 lakh crore has been disbursed to farmers through 21 instalments. To avail benefits, farmers must complete key requirements such as seeding land records on the PM-KISAN portal, linking Aadhaar with bank accounts, and completing e-KYC verification.

Role of the PM-KISAN Web Portal

The PM-KISAN web portal acts as the central digital platform for the scheme. It facilitates beneficiary registration, verification, and data management while maintaining a unified national database of farmers. Integrated with the Public Financial Management System (PFMS), the portal enables seamless fund transfers and real-time monitoring of transactions. It also provides location-wise beneficiary lists, enhancing transparency and accountability.

Mobile Application and Digital Enhancements

To improve accessibility, the PM-KISAN mobile application, launched in 2020, extends key services to farmers via smartphones. Through the app, users can self-register, track payment status, and complete e-KYC. In 2023, a Face Authentication feature was introduced, allowing farmers to verify their identity through facial recognition. This innovation removes the need for OTP or fingerprint-based verification, making the process more convenient and inclusive.
