As the festive season nears, farmers across India are keenly waiting for the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. 

The main question is whether the central government will release the funds before Diwali 2025. With partial payments already issued to some states, anticipation is high for the nationwide rollout.

Recent Updates on the 21st Instalment

The Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan released the 21st instalment for farmers in Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh on September 26, 2025. This early disbursal was done in response to floods and landslides in these states.

Later, on October 7, 2025, the 21st instalment was also released for farmers in Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring early financial assistance to those affected by natural calamities.

Expected Timeline: Before Diwali?

The 20th instalment of PM Kisan was released in August 2025benefitting over 8.5 crore farmers across the country.

While the government has not officially announced the 21st instalment release date, as per news reporys it is expected to be credited in October or November.

eKYC: Mandatory for All Beneficiaries

To receive the instalment, eKYC is mandatory for all PM Kisan-registered farmers. Beneficiaries can complete eKYC through:

  • OTP-based eKYC on the PM Kisan portal.
  • Biometric-based eKYC at Common Service Centres (CSCs) and State Seva Kendras (SSKs).
  • Face authentication-based eKYC through the PM Kisan Mobile App, widely used by farmers.

Checking PM Kisan Beneficiary Status

To check payment and beneficiary status, follow these steps:

  • Visit the official PM Kisan website.
  • Click on “Beneficiary Status”.
  • Enter your Aadhaar number or account number.
  • Click on “Get Data”.
  • View your beneficiary and payment status displayed on the screen.
