The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched the PM-AJAY portal and AJAY mobile application to digitise scheme implementation. The initiative aims to improve transparency, monitoring, and execution of welfare programmes for Scheduled Caste communities.
The scheme is fully funded by the central government and operates across multiple developmental components. The launch was attended by senior government officials and representatives from states and union territories.
The PM-AJAY portal and mobile application were launched on May 26, 2026, by Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar. Minister of State BL Verma and Department Secretary Sudhansh Pant were also present at the event.
Officials from all states and union territories participated in the launch through a virtual platform. The rollout reflects a centralised approach to scheme monitoring and coordination across administrative levels.
PM-AJAY consolidates several earlier centrally sponsored schemes into a single integrated framework. These include the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, Special Central Assistance to Scheduled Castes Sub Plan and Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana.
The scheme operates through components covering village development, livelihood and skilling support, and hostel construction in educational institutions. This unified structure is intended to improve coordination, streamline implementation and reduce administrative fragmentation.
The PM-AJAY portal is designed to track progress across more than 47,000 SC-majority villages and over 4 million beneficiaries. It replaces traditional paper-based planning systems with digital workflows at the village level.
A national dashboard monitors development using 50 socio-economic indicators across 10 domains. Fund disbursements are linked to milestones and are triggered automatically following digital approval of Village Development Plans.
The portal functions as a centralised management information system for tracking financial and physical progress. For Grants-in-Aid, it aggregates state-level data on skilling and livelihood programmes.
The hostel component enables monitoring of construction and repair activities using structured reporting tools. The AJAY mobile application extends these capabilities to field-level users by supporting offline surveys, beneficiary registration, and project data capture.
