As per the news reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana on Friday. The programme, backed by the state government, seeks to channel direct financial aid to women while fostering self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
Under the initiative, ₹10,000 will be credited into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women across the state. The total disbursement amounts to ₹7,500 crore, making it one of the most ambitious financial support measures for women in the region.
Each beneficiary will begin with the initial grant of ₹10,000, with the option of accessing further assistance of up to ₹2 lakh in subsequent phases.
As per the news reports, while addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi stated, “I want to tell women that a lot of work is being done and the Prime Minister is working for you. The previous government was not for women.” His comments placed women’s empowerment at the heart of the initiative while also drawing political contrasts.
The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana has been framed as both a welfare measure and a step toward long-term empowerment. By linking financial transfers with opportunities for self-employment, the scheme aims to create sustainable economic independence for women, reinforcing their role in household and community development.
