The Punjab government is set to launch the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, a comprehensive health insurance scheme offering ₹10 lakh coverage to every family in the state, as per PTI report.
This initiative aims to provide universal healthcare to all 65 lakh families in Punjab, ensuring cashless medical treatment for residents possessing both Aadhaar and voter ID cards.
Announced by Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh, the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna is scheduled for a formal launch on January 15, 2026.
The scheme is designed to cover the entire population of Punjab, with eligibility extended to any resident holding an Aadhaar card and voter ID. This initiative promises to deliver free, cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh per family.
To facilitate enrolment, over 9,000 camps will be organised across the state. Once registered, individuals can avail themselves of the scheme's benefits, which include coverage for approximately 2,200 medical procedures.
The scheme encompasses expenses related to hospitalisation, surgeries, ICU care, diagnostics, medicines, and both pre- and post-hospitalisation treatment.
