The Government of Assam has announced that all State Government employees will be entitled to Special Casual Leave under the Matri Pitri Vandana Scheme on November 14 (Friday) and November 15 (Saturday).

The Matri Pitri Vandana Scheme was introduced to encourage government employees to honor their parents and strengthen family bonds. By aligning the special leave with a bank holiday weekend, the initiative offers employees a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with their roots and express gratitude to their parents.

Extended Weekend with Bank Holiday

With November 16 (Sunday) being a bank holiday, employees can combine the three days to observe Matri Pitri Vandana and spend quality time with their parents. This arrangement effectively creates a long weekend, encouraging employees to dedicate uninterrupted time to their families.

The General Administration Department (GAD) issued this notification as a partial modification to an earlier order dated December 6, 2024. The updated directive reinforces the government’s commitment to promoting family values and work-life balance among its workforce.
