With less than a week left for beneficiaries to complete their e-KYC verification under Maharashtra’s Ladki Bahin scheme, several women are still struggling to update their details due to technical issues and document challenges.
The state government has set November 18 as the deadline to finish the verification process. The e-KYC is being carried out to confirm annual family income and identify ineligible beneficiaries under the scheme.
According to government data, e-KYC has been completed for just over 1 crore women out of the total 2.63 crore registered beneficiaries. While the Women and Child Development (WCD) Department claims that most technical issues have been fixed, many beneficiaries still face software glitches and document upload errors.
| Particulars | Number/Status |
| Total Registered Beneficiaries | 2.63 crore |
| e-KYC Completed | 1+ crore |
| Deadline | November 18, 2025 |

Many women have reported difficulties uploading documents or verifying income details, particularly those who have lost their husband or father. Under the revised rules, income proof of these family members has become mandatory for e-KYC verification.
Other issues include:
Local WCD offices have been directed to assist women facing such problems to ensure that no eligible applicant is excluded.
The verification drive was launched after a government audit found over 26 lakh bogus beneficiaries enrolled under the scheme. To prevent misuse, the government has tightened eligibility rules.
| Parameter | Previous Rule | Revised Rule |
| Income Verification | Based only on woman’s income | Based on total family income |
| Income Limit | Not strictly enforced | ₹2.5 lakh per year |
| Verification Method | Manual | Aadhaar and PAN-linked database check |
This change ensures that the benefits reach only those who genuinely need support. The system now cross-checks income data through PAN and bank-linked Aadhaar verification, making it more transparent.
