
The West Bengal government has launched the Mukhya Mantri Swasthya Bima Yojana (MMSBY) to provide health insurance coverage to eligible residents who are covered under the Swasthya Sathi scheme but are not eligible for the Centre's Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
The scheme offers health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year. Eligible beneficiaries can verify their status through the Swasthya Sathi portal and complete the application process by submitting the required documents.
Applicants need the following documents to complete or verify their application:
Aadhaar numbers of all family members.
Khadya Sathi or Digital Ration Card.
A self-declared income certificate confirming that the annual family income is ₹8 lakh or less.
The scheme offers the following benefits to eligible families:
Health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalisation on a floater basis.
Coverage for pre-existing diseases from Day 1, with no waiting period.
No limit on dependent family members covered under a single policy unit.
The application and verification process are integrated with the Swasthya Sathi platform.
Eligible Swasthya Sathi cardholders can check their eligibility by visiting the official Swasthya Sathi portal and entering their registered mobile number or unique registration number. Those found eligible can complete the verification process through the existing system.
The Mukhya Mantri Swasthya Bima Yojana aims to provide financial protection against healthcare expenses for eligible Swasthya Sathi beneficiaries who are not covered under Ayushman Bharat. Applicants should keep the required documents ready and verify their eligibility through the Swasthya Sathi portal before completing the application process.
