
Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) offers health coverage of ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation, benefiting 12 crore families in the bottom 40% of India’s population.
In October 2024, the scheme was further expanded to include senior citizens aged 70 years and above, covering 6 crore individuals from 4.5 crore families, irrespective of socio-economic status, under the Ayushman Vay Vandana card.
As of 31 December 2025, over 96.73 lakh Ayushman Vay Vandana cards have been issued across all States and Union Territories.
