Ayushman Vay Vandana Card: Government Issued Over 96 Lakhs Cards Till December 2025

Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) offers health coverage of ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation, benefiting 12 crore families in the bottom 40% of India’s population. 

Expansion for Senior Citizens

In October 2024, the scheme was further expanded to include senior citizens aged 70 years and above, covering 6 crore individuals from 4.5 crore families, irrespective of socio-economic status, under the Ayushman Vay Vandana card.

As of 31 December 2025, over 96.73 lakh Ayushman Vay Vandana cards have been issued across all States and Union Territories.

Hospital Admissions and Expenditure

During the same period, a total of 10.33 lakh hospital admissions, amounting to ₹2,154.37 crore, were authorised for Ayushman Vay Vandana cardholders. Of these:

• Female beneficiaries: 3.93 lakh admissions totalling ₹820.42 crore
• Male beneficiaries: 6.40 lakh admissions totalling ₹1,333.94 crore

These figures reflect the expanding reach and utilisation of the program in providing quality healthcare to senior citizens across the country.
