Capgemini India is planning to recruit between 40,000 and 45,000 people in 2025, stated CEO Ashwin Yardi in an interview with The Hindu Business Line.. The announcement comes at a time when several IT companies have been cutting jobs. Companies like Microsoft, TCS, and Intel have recently let go of large numbers of employees.
Of the total planned hires, around 35-40% will be lateral entries, bringing in experienced professionals across business areas. The rest will be fresh graduates. Capgemini has tied up with over 50 colleges in India to source new talent.
The company’s hiring plans are centred around building what it calls an “AI-ready” workforce. New recruits will be trained in artificial intelligence technologies from the start. The move is intended to support client requirements for automation and tech-enabled services.
Capgemini is also in the process of acquiring WNS, a business process firm. The deal is still awaiting regulatory approvals and is likely to close in the next 6 months. Once complete, it will be Capgemini’s largest acquisition in terms of headcount.
Post-acquisition, WNS’s AI tools, labelled “agentic AI”, will be added to Capgemini’s existing service lines. The deal is projected to bring in revenue synergies worth $100-140 million by 2027. The company has stated there will be limited job losses.
Capgemini currently employs around 1.75 lakh people in India. This fresh round of hiring will significantly expand its local workforce. The company continues to receive work from global clients looking for scalable operations in India.
