Uttar Pradesh has strengthened its trade and investment ties with BRICS nations, with exports to BRICS member and partner countries surpassing $5.36 billion during FY26, as per a PTI news report.
The achievement highlights the growing contribution of the state's MSME sector, which continues to play a key role in driving exports, employment generation, and economic growth.
According to the state government, exports worth around $3.94 billion were shipped to BRICS member countries during FY26, while exports valued at approximately $1.43 billion were sent to partner nations.
The state exports a wide range of products, including machinery, garments, leather goods, carpets, and precious stones.
Uttar Pradesh's MSME ecosystem has become a major pillar of the state's economy, supporting employment, innovation, and industrial development.
The state currently has around 9.6 million MSME units, which collectively provide employment to nearly 1.65 crore people.
The One District One Product (ODOP) programme has played a significant role in promoting local products and traditional crafts in international markets.
Under the scheme, more than 20,000 beneficiaries have received margin money assistance of around ₹897 crore, helping generate approximately 3.16 lakh employment opportunities.
The state government also highlighted the impact of the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana.
Through the programme, more than 4.41 lakh artisans have been provided with modern toolkits and skill development training to enhance productivity and income generation.
To encourage self-employment, the government has launched the Chief Minister Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign.
The initiative offers interest-free and collateral-free loans, with a long-term target of creating 10 lakh new micro-enterprises over the next decade.
The state is also expanding industrial infrastructure through MSME parks being developed under the PLEDGE scheme.
So far, parks have been approved across 12 districts to provide businesses with improved infrastructure and a supportive industrial ecosystem.
Uttar Pradesh's exports to BRICS nations crossed $5.36 billion in FY26, supported by a strong MSME ecosystem and targeted government initiatives. Programmes such as ODOP, artisan welfare schemes, entrepreneurship support, and MSME park development continue to strengthen the state's industrial and export capabilities.
