Uttar Pradesh has taken a decisive step towards becoming a global electronics manufacturing hub by approving a new policy focused on the production of key electronic components. With an investment target of ₹5,000 crore, the initiative is set to launch on April 1, 2025 and run for 6 years, supporting 11 essential components to reduce import dependence and drive employment.

₹5,000 Crore Push for Key Electronics Components in UP

The Uttar Pradesh Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025 (UP ECMP-2025) is aligned with the Centre's Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) and aims to promote local production of critical components like displays, camera modules, and multilayer PCBs. The ₹5,000 crore investment is expected to generate lakhs of direct and indirect jobs while improving supply chain capabilities across the state.

The policy will offer state-level incentives in addition to central benefits, enhancing the overall viability for investors and manufacturers. It will be monitored and implemented by a nodal agency supported by a policy implementation unit and an empowered committee.

Strategic Focus on Employment and Innovation

UP ECMP-2025 targets strategic electronics self-reliance and innovation. With over 300 mobile manufacturing units already operational in the state, UP currently accounts for more than 50% of India's mobile phone production. The new policy aims to build upon this momentum by encouraging deeper manufacturing and value addition within the electronics ecosystem.

Timeline and Implementation Structure

The policy comes into effect from April 1, 2025 and will be in force until March 31, 2031. A dedicated nodal agency will oversee its implementation, ensuring timely support and grievance redressal. The setup of an empowered committee at the government level aims to enable swift policy decisions and coordinated action across departments.

Conclusion

UP ECMP-2025 is a significant move to establish Uttar Pradesh as a leader in electronics component manufacturing. With a clear investment focus, job creation goals, and alignment with national policy, the state is well-positioned to attract global and domestic players, paving the way for sustained industrial growth.
