
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to visit India from May 23 to 26, marking his inaugural visit as the US Secretary of State, as per news reports. The visit is aimed at enhancing trade, defence, and energy cooperation between the two nations.
During his visit, Secretary Rubio will engage with senior Indian officials to discuss significant trade and defence matters as well as energy security.
His itinerary includes stops in Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur, and New Delhi, but the primary focus remains on New Delhi, where notable discussions are expected.
Rubio will also participate in a meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Quad countries. This visit coincides with celebrations marking 250 years of American Independence in Delhi, adding a ceremonial aspect to his meetings.
The alignment of his visit with other Quad country leaders' schedules is being considered to facilitate high-level diplomatic interactions.
