On July 17, 2026, The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced the Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Suvidha Yojana, offering cashless medical treatment of up to ₹5 lakh per family for 12 lakh teachers and education department staff, with all premiums borne by the state as per The Moneycontrol news report.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the launch of a new health insurance scheme, extending coverage to government school teachers, Shiksha Mitras, instructors, cooks, and other eligible employees under the Education Department.
The scheme allows beneficiaries to receive cashless treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals throughout the state.
The government is fully covering the annual insurance premium of ₹3,000 per beneficiary, ensuring that participants access health cover without any financial contribution.
Only those whose names are in the department's official database will be eligible, along with their dependents under the scheme's guidelines.
Each beneficiary will be provided with a cashless medical card for identity verification at hospitals, enabling cashless admission and straightforward claim settlements.
The insurance package covers a wide range of medical services including hospitalisation, surgeries, emergency treatment, intensive care, diagnostic investigations, specialist consultations, and prescribed medicines.
OPD services may also be included subject to scheme terms.
