Union Minister Inaugurates Daman-Delhi Flight from NAMO Airport, Boosting Regional Connectivity

On July 16, 2026, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, inaugurated the first flight from NAMO Airport, Daman, connecting the city directly to Delhi as per the press release on PIB.
This marks a significant milestone for the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu.
Launch of Daman-Delhi Flight
The inaugural flight on the Daman–Delhi–Daman route was flagged off by Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and Administrator Praful Patel. Operated by Alliance Air, this flight establishes Daman's first direct air link to the national capital, reducing travel time to 2.5 hours.
The NAMO Airport, developed at a cost of ₹124 crore, spans 3,700 square metres and can handle 14 ATR flights daily, accommodating 3.67 lakh passengers annually. The Ministry of Civil Aviation contributed ₹88 crore towards the project.
Economic and Tourism Impact
The new airport is expected to boost business and tourism in the region, home to over 7,000 industries. Improved connectivity is anticipated to attract investment and create employment opportunities. The region's tourism potential is also highlighted, with 20 lakh tourists visiting annually.

Future Plans and UDAN Scheme
Plans to extend the runway to accommodate larger aircraft like Airbus A320 are underway. The UDAN Scheme, extended for 10 years with ₹29,000 crore, aims to develop 100 new airports and 200 helipads, enhancing regional connectivity.
