Abu Dhabi-based technology group G42 reportedly plans to establish an 8 exaflop AI supercomputer in India, in collaboration with US chipmaker Cerebras, Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and India’s Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).
The system will be built and hosted in India. According to news reports, it will operate under Indian governance frameworks, with all data processed within national boundaries.
C-DAC finalised a term sheet with G42 during the AI Impact Summit 2026 held in New Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the signing initiates the deployment process.
The development follows the 5th India-UAE Strategic Dialogue in December 2025 and the visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to India in January 2026, where broader technology cooperation was discussed.
The proposed supercomputer will have a peak capacity of 8,000 AI petaflops. India’s existing AI infrastructure includes AIRAWAT, with about 200 AI petaflops, and PARAM Siddhi-AI, with approximately 210 AI petaflops, both located at C-DAC Pune.
Together, they provide around 410 AI petaflops. AIRAWAT is currently ranked 188th globally. The new system would be nearly 19 times larger than the country’s present combined AI compute capacity.
As per news reports, access will be made available to research institutions, government departments, startups, and small and medium enterprises.
The system is to support large-scale AI model training and inference workloads under the India AI Mission framework.
The project builds on earlier cooperation between G42 and MBZUAI, including the December 2025 release of NANDA 87B, an open-source Hindi-English large language model with 87 billion parameters.
Once operational, the supercomputer is expected to support similar large-scale AI research and application development within India.

If completed as planned, the 8 exaflop installation would represent a substantial expansion of India’s domestic AI computing capacity under sovereign regulatory oversight.
