Telangana Cabinet Approves 2 Pending DA Instalments for Employees and Pensioners

The Telangana Cabinet has approved the release of 2 pending Dearness Allowance (DA) instalments for employees and pensioners, as per news report.
This decision is anticipated to add an annual financial burden of ₹2,500 crore to the state. The release aligns with assurances given to employee unions during recent discussions.
DA Instalments to be Released
The Telangana government's decision to release the DA instalments will address arrears pending since 2024. Although these payments will commence immediately, no specific timeline for clearing the remaining arrears has been announced. The state's financial commitment aims to honour promises made to employee unions.
Addressing Drought Conditions
The Cabinet also deliberated on the impact of El Nino conditions and a deficient monsoon. Plans include forming a sub-committee for affected areas, involving consultations with political parties, farmers, and experts. Telangana recorded a 17% rainfall deficit as the monsoon concluded on September 30, 2023.
