The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has reaffirmed its support to the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) during its New Year 2026 employee gathering.

Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi called for stronger financing support led by IREDA for MSMEs and schemes like PM Surya Ghar.

MNRE Highlights IREDA’s Financing Role in Flagship Schemes

Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE, addressed IREDA employees at an event held on January 1, 2026, at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.

He underlined the importance of enhancing financial outreach to MSMEs and expanding lending under key initiatives such as the PM Surya Ghar scheme. During his address, he also spoke on the importance of team-building and leadership training among young professionals.

IREDA Workforce and Financial Performance in 2025

Shri Pradip Kumar Das, CMD, IREDA, welcomed MNRE officials and reflected on 2025's progress. He shared that IREDA’s employee strength grew from 168 to 227 by January 1, 2026. Women now make up 23% of the total workforce, notably higher than the CPSE average of 9.5%.

Financially, IREDA achieved cumulative loan sanctions of ₹2,78,016 crore and disbursements of ₹1,80,988 crore. Its loan book stood at ₹87,975 crore as of December 31, 2025. The agency recorded a Profit After Tax of ₹1,699 crore for FY 2024–25, the highest so far, alongside an upgraded international credit rating from S&P Global Ratings.

In his concluding remarks, Director (Finance), Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, thanked all employees and urged continued commitment to governance and operational efficiency.

Conclusion

IREDA’s focus during 2025 remained aligned with national renewable energy and financial inclusion goals. The encouragement from MNRE positions IREDA to maintain and enhance its role in funding MSMEs and key schemes like PM Surya Ghar.
