RBI Proposes Inclusion of Bank Deposit Details in CAS for Demat Holders by December 31, 2026

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proposed allowing demat account holders to view bank deposit details along with their securities holdings through the Consolidated Account Statement (CAS), according to news report.
The proposal was outlined in the RBI’s Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies issued on October 7, 2026. The measures are part of changes being made under the Account Aggregator framework.
Bank Deposits Through NBFC-AAs
Currently, the CAS provides investors with a consolidated record of their securities and demat holdings. Under the proposed arrangement, SEBI-regulated depositories will be facilitated to include information on bank deposit accounts through NBFC Account Aggregators (NBFC-AAs).
This means demat account holders would be able to see details of their holdings and bank deposits in the same CAS. At present, these details are generally available through separate account records.
Interoperability Between Account Aggregators
The RBI has also decided to introduce interoperability among NBFC-Account Aggregators. Customers will be able to access and share financial information held by different Financial Information Providers through any NBFC-AA of their choice.
The change will not be limited to customers who have demat accounts. Those without demat accounts will continue to be able to obtain a consolidated view of their financial information through NBFC-AAs.
Financial Information Can Be Shared
The framework will also allow customers to share consolidated financial information with institutions when required.
For example, a person applying for a loan or preparing financial information for planning purposes could provide details from multiple financial accounts through the Account Aggregator framework.
The RBI said the measures are intended to improve customer convenience by making financial information available through a more consolidated system.
Implementation Deadline
Both measures are expected to be implemented by December 31, 2026. The changes cover the inclusion of bank deposit information in CAS for demat holders and interoperability between NBFC-AAs.
The proposed framework would therefore bring securities holdings and bank deposit information into a single statement for eligible demat account holders, while retaining consolidated financial information access for customers without demat accounts.
