Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Imphal, Manipur, on September 13,2025, inaugurating infrastructure and development projects worth ₹1,200 crore. This marked his first visit to the state since 2023. Addressing local communities, he urged unity and peace, emphasising investment in infrastructure and tribal welfare as a step toward a stable and prosperous Manipur.

₹1,200 Crore Projects Inaugurated Amid Push for Peace

During a ceremony held at Kangla Fort complex, PM Modi inaugurated 17 development schemes in Imphal valued at approximately ₹1,200 crore. Among them were the new Police Headquarters and Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri, constructed at costs of ₹101 crore and ₹538 crore respectively. These projects aim to boost administrative efficiency and regional connectivity in Manipur.

Multi-Faceted Development Spread Across Manipur

Beyond Imphal, the PM also laid the foundation stone for development initiatives worth over ₹7,300 crore in Churachandpur. These include infrastructure upgrades to 5 government colleges across Imphal West, Thoubal, and Kakching, the establishment of 4 new 'Ima' markets to support women's trade, and a cultural park at Leishang Hiden in Imphal West to preserve heritage. 

A four-lane bridge on NH-37 over the Irang River and new facilities at Saikot CHC in Churachandpur district were also officially launched.

Government Commitment Towards Rebuilding Trust and Peace

In his address, PM Modi assured the people of Manipur that the central government stands firmly with them during this time of recovery. Calling Manipur a land of vibrancy and diversity, the PM appealed to all communities to renounce violence and work towards harmony. He reaffirmed ongoing efforts like ₹3,700 crore investments in National Highways and announced ongoing projects worth ₹8,700 crore to enhance mobility across remote areas.
