Indian farmers are awaiting the release of the 23rd instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme. While the government has not announced an official release date, the next ₹2,000 instalment is expected around June-July 2026 based on the previous payment cycle.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 22nd instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme on March 13, 2026, in Guwahati, Assam, transferring ₹18,640 crore to 9.32 crore eligible farmers through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Based on the pattern of previous releases, the 23rd instalment is expected to be credited around June-July 2026. However, the government has not yet announced the official date or time for the next payment.
The PM-Kisan scheme is a central government income support programme for eligible landholding farmer families.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 per year in 3 equal instalments of ₹2,000 each. The payments are released every 4 months during the April-July, August-November, and December-March cycles and are directly transferred to beneficiaries' bank accounts.
So far, the government has disbursed more than ₹4.27 lakh crore since its launch, making PM-KISAN one of the world’s largest DBT initiatives.
Eligible farmers must complete e-KYC to receive the upcoming PM-Kisan instalment. Farmers who fail to complete the process may not receive the next ₹2,000 payment.
Beneficiaries can complete e-KYC through:
OTP-based e-KYC via the PM-Kisan portal or mobile app
Biometric-based e-KYC at Common Service Centres (CSCs) and State Seva Kendras (SSKs)
Face authentication-based e-KYC through the PM-Kisan mobile app
Farmers should also ensure that their Aadhaar is linked with their bank account.
To receive benefits under the PM-Kisan scheme, a beneficiary should:
Be an Indian citizen
Own cultivable land
Be a small or marginal farmer
Not be an institutional landholder
Not receive a monthly pension of ₹10,000 or more after retirement
Not have filed income tax returns
Farmers can check their beneficiary status by following these steps:
Visit the official PM-Kisan website
Click on Know Your Status or Beneficiary Status
Enter the registration number, Aadhaar number or bank account details
Complete the captcha verification
Click on Get Data
The beneficiary and payment status will be displayed on the screen
Farmers can also check their names in the beneficiary list by selecting their state, district, sub-district, block, and village details on the PM-Kisan portal.
The 23rd instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme is expected around June-July 2026, although the government has not announced an official release date. Eligible beneficiaries should complete their e-KYC and ensure Aadhaar is linked to their bank account to avoid delays in receiving the next ₹2,000 instalment.
