Northern Railway to Operate Over 6,200 Train Trips During Diwali and Chhath!

Northern Railway has planned more than 6,200 special train trips for passengers travelling during Diwali and Chhath Puja, according to news reports.
The planned number is around 30% higher than last year's 4,666 trips, reflecting the increase in demand for rail travel during the festive season. The railway zone has announced around 3,600 trips so far. The total is expected to exceed 6,200 over the coming weeks.
The figure counts individual journeys made by trains throughout the season, including repeated runs of the same service.
42 Trains Added to the Regular Network
Northern Railway has regularised 42 trains this year, which are expected to account for around 2,600 trips during the festive period. These journeys have been included in the total of more than 6,200 trips planned for the season.
Services on Delhi-Patna and Other Routes
The special train programme includes services on Delhi-Patna, Anand Vihar-Patliputra, New Delhi-Howrah, Amritsar-Barauni and Chandigarh-Patna routes.
These connections serve destinations in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, where passenger traffic increases around Diwali and Chhath.
Many passengers travel from northern cities to their hometowns during this period, putting additional pressure on regular train services.
Ticket Counters and Security Arrangements
At railway stations, Northern Railway has arranged additional ticket counters and staff to handle the increase in passenger numbers. Security arrangements have also been strengthened for the festive period.
