Karnataka to Launch AI University, Expand AI Education to Rural Schools

As per news reports, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said the state government plans to expand artificial intelligence (AI) education to rural students, establish an AI University with industry participation and strengthen partnerships with technology companies to further develop Karnataka's AI ecosystem.
Government Plans to Take AI Education to Rural Schools
Shivakumar said the government aims to introduce AI education beyond urban centres and requested industry leaders to invest in rural schools. He added that the state also plans to develop an AI-focused curriculum to ensure students in rural areas gain exposure to emerging technologies.
AI University Planned with Industry Participation
The Deputy Chief Minister announced plans to establish an AI University with industry collaboration. He also said the government intends to expand world-class technology infrastructure beyond Bengaluru and introduce new policies to strengthen Karnataka's technology ecosystem.
Software Exports Expected to Cross ₹5.5 Lakh Crore
Addressing industry leaders, Shivakumar said Karnataka's software exports have already crossed ₹4.36 lakh crore and are expected to exceed ₹5.5 lakh crore this year. He also outlined plans to introduce AI education from Class 6 onwards as part of the state's long-term technology strategy.
