Karnataka CM Urges Industry Collaboration to Enhance Rural Education via CSR

This approach encourages companies to appoint contractors and build educational facilities while retaining their brand identity. The government plans to provide land and essential support.
Building on Existing Philanthropy
Highlighting Karnataka's tradition of philanthropy, he stressed the need to curb urban migration by offering quality education in rural areas. He praised organisations like Infosys and Wipro for their CSR initiatives, mentioning government interest in successful projects along the Tamil Nadu border.
Bridging the Urban-Rural Divide
The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of exposing urban children to rural life through educational programmes. He suggested a curriculum change that mandates student visits to villages, aiming to foster appreciation for agriculture and the efforts of farmers.

Monitoring and Utilising CSR Funds
The government intends to monitor the use of CSR funds by appointing an IAS officer. Companies are encouraged to work directly on school projects, avoiding intermediary routes. Karnataka sees potential annual CSR investments reaching ₹10,000 crore, compared to the ₹3,394 crore spent in 2024-25.
