Indian Startups Raise $218.69 Million Across 26 Deals This Week; Airbound and Third Wave Coffee Lead Funding

Indian startups raised $218.69 million across 26 deals this week, as per an Entrackr news report. The total included two growth-stage deals, 22 early-stage rounds, and two undisclosed transactions. In the previous week, 21 startups had raised about $198.33 million. 

Early-stage funding made up the larger share, with 22 startups raising $150.69 million. Airbound led the list with a $37 million Series A round. Runable raised $21 million, followed by Nexedge Capital at $20 million and InstaAstro at $12 million. 

Third Wave Coffee Raises $43 Million 

Growth-stage startups raised $68 million across two transactions. Third Wave Coffee raised ₹408 crore, or $43 million, in a round led by existing investor WestBridge Capital. 

Electric motorcycle maker Matter raised the remaining $25 million in growth equity. Its existing investors in the round included Helena, Capital 2B, Japan Airlines, TransLink Innovation Fund and SMSC. 

Bengaluru Leads Deal Activity 

Bengaluru recorded 12 startup funding deals during the week, followed by Delhi-NCR with six. Deals were also reported from Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Trichy. 

AI startups accounted for five deals, followed by e-commerce with three. Spiritual tech, logistics and EV startups recorded two deals each. Series A was the busiest funding stage with 11 rounds, while seed and pre-seed rounds saw five each. 

Two M&A Deals During the Week 

Healthtech startup Temple acquired London-based longevity medicine practice Longevous. Following the deal, Longevous founders Dr Robert Mohr and Dr Avi Roy will join Temple. 

Separately, Bengaluru-based Healthify merged with US nutrition care company Berry Street in an all-stock deal. The transaction combines Healthify's AI-led health platform with Berry Street's insurance-backed clinical care network. 

Fund Launches and Workforce Changes 

TILT launched a ₹250 crore venture fund for early-stage businesses serving India's Next Billion. Micromax Informatics also launched a ₹250 crore family office for investments in deeptech startups. 

The week saw seven senior-level appointments across startups. Meanwhile, Even Healthcare laid off around 350 employees, estimated at 30-35% of its workforce, as it phases down its insurance business and shifts to a hospital-led healthcare model. 

Overall, the week saw 26 funding deals, two M&A transactions, two fund launches, seven key appointments and layoffs at Even Healthcare.

Between August 24 and 29, Indian startups recorded 26 funding deals worth $218.69 million, along with acquisitions, fund launches, appointments and layoffs.
