
The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Schemes introduced by the Indian government have successfully attracted investments of over ₹2.40 lakh crore and generated employment for more than 14.15 lakh individuals across various sectors as of March 31, 2026, as per the press release on PIB.
These schemes aim to enhance India's manufacturing capacities and boost exports by providing financial incentives to industries.
The PLI Schemes have enabled exports worth ₹15.2 lakh crore, showcasing an increasing integration with global value chains.
In the large-scale electronics manufacturing sector, mobile phone production has increased approximately 2.4 times, with a 77% drop in imports, making 99.2% of mobile phones in India domestically manufactured.
The pharmaceuticals sector achieved cumulative sales of over ₹3.64 lakh crore, with 1,931 pharmaceutical products now manufactured domestically, including 191 bulk drugs made for the first time in India.
In the bulk drugs sector, manufacturing capacity has reached about 55,000 MT for 26 critical Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), reducing import dependency.
The PLI Scheme for medical devices has enabled the domestic production of advanced equipment such as CT scanners and MRI systems, with operations commenced by 22 applicants and the commissioning of 55 unique medical devices.
In the telecom sector, indigenous development of 4G and 5G technologies has been supported, while in the white goods sector, compressor manufacturing capacity increased from 1 million units in 2021 to 1 crore in 2025-26.
This sector also saw enhanced localisation of components like PCBAs. The cumulative exports under PLI sectors have increased from ₹4 lakh crore in 2023-24 to ₹15.2 lakh crore in 2025-26.

The PLI Schemes have resulted in over ₹2.40 lakh crore of investment and created over 14.15 lakh jobs. Exports have reached ₹15.2 lakh crore, with substantial growth across sectors like electronics, pharmaceuticals, and telecom, reflecting increased domestic production capabilities.
