The National Consumer Helpline, an initiative by the Department of Consumer Affairs, has successfully facilitated refunds amounting to ₹45 crore across 31 sectors. This effort underscores the helpline's role in addressing consumer grievances effectively. 

E-Commerce Sector Leads in Grievances and Refunds 

In the past 8 months, the National Consumer Helpline has addressed over 67,000 consumer grievances. Notably, the e-commerce sector recorded the highest number of grievances, with over 39,000 complaints. This sector alone accounted for refunds totalling ₹32 crore, highlighting its significant share in consumer issues. 

Grievance Redressal Across Multiple Sectors 

The helpline's reach extends beyond e-commerce, covering 31 sectors in total. This wide-ranging approach ensures that consumers from various industries have access to a reliable platform for grievance redressal. The initiative provides a pre-litigation stage solution, allowing consumers to resolve issues efficiently. 

Accessibility and Language Support 

Consumers can register their grievances through a toll-free number, 1915, available in 17 languages. This accessibility ensures that individuals from diverse linguistic backgrounds can seek assistance without barriers. The helpline's multilingual support is a crucial factor in its widespread acceptance and effectiveness.
