The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has extended the last date for submitting online applications for the allocation of Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) under the India-United Kingdom Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).

The deadline for applications for the 2026 calendar year has been revised to 9 August 2026, according to a public notice issued on 5 August 2026. The notification has been issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Department of Commerce.

Reason for the Extension

The public notice states that the decision follows representations received from trade and industry. Using powers available under Paragraphs 1.03 and 2.04 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), 2023, the DGFT has extended only the application deadline.

The notice does not mention any changes to the quota allocation process or the scope of the agreement.

No Change in Existing Framework

The extension is in continuation of Public Notice No. 19/2026-27 dated 9 July 2026 and Public Notice No. 22/2026-27 dated 20 July 2026. The DGFT has noted that all provisions laid down in these earlier notifications will continue to remain in force.

This includes the eligibility conditions, application procedure, and other requirements prescribed for applicants seeking TRQ allocation.

What the Notice Means

The latest notification changes only the last date for filing online applications. Businesses eligible to apply for tariff rate quota benefits under the India-UK CETA will now have additional time to complete the online submission process.

No fresh guidelines or revised conditions have been introduced through the latest public notice.

Conclusion

Eligible applicants will now have until 9 August 2026 to submit online TRQ applications under the India-UK agreement. The extension affects only the submission timeline, while the existing rules remain unchanged.
