Delhi EV Policy Attracts Over 5,500 Applications for Incentives

The Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 has received about 5,678 applications from the Delhi government. The policy was launched on July 1, 2026, and so far, the majority of applications have been for purchases on electric two-wheeler vehicles.
The total number of applications processes is 1,664, and the government has paid ₹4.8 crore incentives so far. There are another 4,014 applications that are still being verified.
Most Applications Are for Two-Wheelers
Two-wheelers make up most of the applications received so far. There have been 5,621 applications for electric two-wheelers.
Of the 1,664 applications already processed, 1,648 were for two-wheelers. The government has paid ₹4.6 crore to these beneficiaries.
The policy offers up to ₹30,000 for an electric two-wheeler in the first year. The amount comes down to ₹20,000 in the second year and ₹10,000 in the third year.
Scrapping Incentive for Old Vehicles
The policy also gives an incentive to people who scrap older vehicles and buy a new electric vehicle.
Eligible buyers can get ₹1 lakh for scrapping a BS-IV or older car. For BS-IV or older two-wheelers, the scrapping incentive is ₹10,000.
So far, 41 new EV buyers have received incentives under this part of the policy.
EV Incentive Portal Launched in July
The government launched the online portal for the policy on July 3, 2026. People can use the portal to apply for the available EV incentives.
With thousands of applications already received, the government is still processing a large number of requests.
