The Indian Medical Association’s Haryana unit has issued a notice stating that 650 private hospitals across the state will stop treating patients under the Ayushman Bharat scheme from August 7, 2025, as per news reports. The decision comes after dues worth ₹500 crore have reportedly remained unpaid since March 2025.

Only 10-15% Reimbursements Received

According to IMA, most hospitals have only received 10-15% of their billed amounts over the last few months. Several facilities have either dipped into internal reserves or started turning patients away due to the financial strain.

This is not the first time IMA has raised the issue. A similar warning was issued in January 2025 but was withdrawn after government assurances. Hospitals say the delay in payments and arbitrary deductions have continued since then.

Around 60 private hospitals in Gurgaon, including Park Hospital, Centre for Sight, Pushpanjali Hospital, Muskaan Dentals, and Kamla Hospital, will pause new admissions under the scheme. Emergency services will remain operational, but planned procedures will be suspended.

Ayushman Bharat Scheme Coverage in Haryana

The Ayushman Bharat scheme, launched in 2018, covers over 1.8 crore beneficiaries in Haryana. The scheme offers free treatment up to ₹5 lakh per year for low-income families. There are currently 1,300 hospitals empanelled under the scheme in the state.

As per the news reports, Beneficiaries have expressed concern about the disruption. Some fear they may not be able to access treatment when needed. Hospitals have stated that unless payments are cleared, services will remain suspended after August 7, 2025.
