Adani Airport Holdings has officially terminated its ground handling concession agreements with Turkish aviation firm Celebi Aviation. This move affects operations at 2 major airports – Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

The decision comes in the wake of the Indian government's revocation of Celebi's security clearance, citing national security interests.

Adani Airport Holdings Limited was incorporated in 2019 as a 100% subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd, the flagship company of the Adani Group.

Immediate Handover of Facilities

Following the termination, Celebi has been directed to immediately hand over all ground handling facilities at the affected airports. This step is aimed at ensuring that airport operations continue without disruption.

Adani Airport Holdings, in its official statement, confirmed that all required measures have been initiated to maintain uninterrupted services at both airports.

Seamless Transition and Employee Retention

In a statement, the company assured that services to airlines will remain seamless, as new ground handling agencies have already been identified. Importantly, all existing employees of Celebi at the Mumbai and Ahmedabad airports will be transitioned to the new agencies.

They will retain their current terms and conditions of employment, ensuring that there is no impact on their roles or responsibilities during this transition.

Broader Operational Scope of Adani Airport Holdings

Adani Airport Holdings not only operates the Mumbai and Ahmedabad airports but also oversees operations at Mangalore, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram airports.

The company reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards of service and aligning its operations with the broader national interest.

Conclusion

According to a news report, a spokesperson for Adani Airport Holdings concluded the statement by affirming the company's dedication to delivering uninterrupted and quality ground handling services. Despite the sudden shift in operational arrangements, the company remains focused on ensuring that airline partners and passengers experience no inconvenience.
