Options and Futures

Option Buyer

When an individual purchases either a call or put option, they are referred to as the option buyer. This gives them the right, but not the obligation, to take on a futures position. In other words, they have the choice to buy or sell the underlying asset at a predetermined price within a specific time frame. This is also known as being the holder of the option.
