On August 21, 2024, BEML Ltd, India’s top rolling stock manufacturer, signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with SMH Rail, Malaysia’s largest rolling stock producer.
This significant agreement was made official at an event in Delhi, attended by Malaysia’s Minister of International Trade and Industry, Tengku Zafrul B Tengku Abdul Aziz.
This partnership represents a key collaboration between India and Malaysia, aiming to boost their bilateral relations and meet the global demand for advanced rail and metro rolling stock. BEML and SMH Rail will work together to market, supply, and service rail and metro products, focusing on markets in Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
Through this MoU, both companies will combine their strengths in marketing, manufacturing, and maintenance services. They will also collaborate on the design, engineering, and production of rolling stock customised to meet specific client needs. Additionally, they will jointly source components, develop strategies, and share technology to enhance their capabilities.
