In a move toward greater environmental responsibility, BigBloc Construction Ltd., a leading manufacturer in the AAC Block space, has announced plans to expand its solar power capacity. The company is adding a 250 KW rooftop solar plant to its Umargaon unit, increasing the plant’s total installed capacity to over 700 KW. With this, BigBloc’s total solar capacity will reach 1.3 MW across its manufacturing units.
BigBloc is dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint by installing solar power systems at all its manufacturing plants. The company has already initiated a 625 KW rooftop solar project at its Wada Plant in Palghar, Maharashtra, and is now expanding solar energy usage in Umargaon. These efforts demonstrate BigBloc’s leadership in the construction sector’s green transition.
The addition of solar energy has dual benefits for the company: reducing energy costs and contributing to a sustainable future. BigBloc anticipates that the solar installations will significantly reduce its energy expenses, enabling it to reinvest in other sustainability initiatives. Mr. Narayan Saboo, Chairman of BigBloc Construction, highlights the company’s commitment to solar power as a key driver in building a greener tomorrow.
Incorporated in 2015, BigBloc Construction Ltd. is one of the largest manufacturers of AAC Blocks in India, with plants in Gujarat and Maharashtra. It is the only listed company in its sector and among the few that generate carbon credits. BigBloc has reported a solid growth trajectory, with a 5-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19% in sales and over 80% in net profits.
BigBloc’s continued investment in solar energy is part of a broader strategy to become a leader in green construction. With a goal of replacing 33% of its power requirements with renewable energy, BigBloc is positioning itself as a pioneer in sustainable building practices. The company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and cost efficiency sets a benchmark for the construction industry.
By implementing rooftop solar systems across all its plants, BigBloc is not only reducing its environmental impact but also showcasing its dedication to building a better world for future generations.
