The time of Diwali is important for all investors and traders in the share market. Traders have participated in the customary Muhurat trading on Diwali for many years. A Muhurat is a particular time or moment that is auspicious, and traders try to make trades during this window for a great trading year ahead.
In keeping with the tradition of Diwali, the Muhurat Trading Session this year for Equity, F&O, Currency, and Commodity trading will be held on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.

Further, note the following about Muhurat Trading:
Trading and Order Execution
- Intraday trading will be allowed.
- Order modification cut-off:
- 2:55 PM for Derivatives
- 3:15 PM for Cash segment
- After Market Orders (AMO) orders placed on 20 October will be queued for execution during the Muhurat window.
BTST and Settlement
- BTST will be restricted. Stocks purchased on 20 October cannot be sold during the Muhurat session.
- Trades executed on 20 and 21 October will be settled with payout on 23 October.
Stock SIP Orders
- Stock SIP orders will not be executed in the Muhurat session.
- SIP orders due on 21 October will automatically shift to 23 October.
Margins, Funds and Withdrawals
- Derivatives & Intraday credits from 20 October will not be added to the available margin on 21 October.
- No fund payout will be processed on 21 October.
- Fund withdrawal requests placed between 20 October, 5:30 PM and 23 October, 7:00 AM will be credited by 11:30 AM on 23 October.
MTF and Pledge Window
- Conversion to Delivery (CTD) under MTF will not be allowed.
- Margin pledge will remain open from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
- Shares bought under MTF will be auto-pledged as per SEBI mandate.
RMS Policies and Square-Off Rules
The following square-offs will be executed as per RMS policy:
- Derivatives margin shortfall square-off
- 80% MTM-based square-off
- Timer-based square-off from 2:30 PM to 2:35 PM
The following cash market square-offs will not be carried out on 21 October:
- Projected Risk
- MTF Shortage
- Ageing
- CUSA
