Small Businesses to Get GST Registration in 3 Working Days: What You Need to Know?

Starting November 1, 2025, the GST department will roll out a simplified registration scheme designed to provide faster GST registration for small and low-risk businesses. Under this initiative, eligible businesses can receive registration within three working days.
Who Can Opt for the Scheme?
Businesses eligible for the scheme include:
- Those identified as low-risk by the GST system through data analytics.
- Businesses that self-assess that their monthly output tax liability does not exceed ₹2.5 lakh (inclusive of CGST, SGST/UTGST, and IGST).
The scheme is voluntary, allowing businesses to opt in or withdraw at their discretion. The GST Council, comprising finance ministers from the Centre and states, approved the simplified registration scheme during its meeting on September 3, 2025.
Expected Impact
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, speaking at the CGST building inauguration in Ghaziabad, said the scheme is expected to benefit around 96% of new GST applicants. “The task of the field formation is to operationalise it and ensure there is no friction in the process,” Ms Sitharaman said.

To assist businesses in the registration process, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has been asked to establish a dedicated help desk at GST Seva Kendras.
