
Waaree Energies Limited has announced a significant development in India's solar sector with the launch of a 10 GW integrated solar ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Nagpur. This project aims to bolster India's solar manufacturing capabilities and reduce dependence on imports.
On March 14, 2026, Waaree Energies Limited broke ground on its new facility in Butibori, Nagpur. The facility, spread over 300 acres, will have a capacity of 10 GW each for solar ingots and wafers, making it the largest of its kind in India.
With an investment of approximately ₹6,200 crore, the facility will focus on producing high-purity solar ingots and wafers, essential components in the solar photovoltaic value chain.
This initiative is a significant step towards enhancing India's upstream solar manufacturing ecosystem. By developing domestic capabilities in these critical components, the project aims to reduce India's reliance on imported materials and enhance supply chain stability.
The facility is expected to generate over 8,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, contributing to regional economic development and skill creation in Maharashtra.

The announcement was marked by a ceremonial event attended by senior government leaders and industry stakeholders, including the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis. Waaree's leadership emphasised the importance of building strong domestic manufacturing capabilities to support India's clean energy transition and the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
