
As per PTI report, Waaree Energies, a renewable energy firm, announced on Feb 19, 2026, that it will develop India’s largest integrated lithium-ion battery gigafactory in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The facility will be built on a greenfield site at Rambilli in Anakapalli district. The total outlay is ₹8,175 crore, and the plant will have a production capacity of 16 GWh per year.
It will cover the full battery value chain, including cell manufacturing, assembly of battery packs, and the production of large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems.
Waaree estimates that the gigafactory will generate around 3,000 direct jobs. The project has received in‑principle approval from the Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board, chaired by the Chief Minister. State officials highlighted the importance of the plant for the region’s clean‑energy transition.

Large scale battery manufacturing supports the expansion of renewable power, electric mobility and grid stability. By producing cells, packs and storage systems domestically, the plant aims to reduce reliance on imports and strengthen India’s manufacturing base in advanced energy storage.
As of February 19, 2026, at 12:34 PM, Waaree Energies share price on NSE was trading at ₹2,907.20 down by 1.90% from the previous closing price.
