Vedanta Q1 FY27 Results: Net Profit Jumps 152% YoY to ₹5,294 Crore, Revenue Rises 51%

Vedanta delivered one of its strongest quarterly performances, supported by higher commodity prices, improved operational efficiency and strong production across its businesses.
Key Financial Highlights
- Consolidated revenue increased 51% year-on-year to ₹23,456 crore, while it declined 1% compared with the previous quarter.
- EBITDA reached a record ₹8,469 crore, up 98% YoY and 9% QoQ.
- EBITDA margin improved to 57%, expanding by 985 basis points from a year ago.
- Profit after tax (PAT) rose to a record ₹5,294 crore, up 152% YoY and 24% QoQ.
- Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) stood at 29%.
- Net debt declined by ₹2,223 crore during the quarter.
- Net debt-to-EBITDA ratio improved to 0.30x.
- Cash and cash equivalents stood at ₹19,992 crore at the end of the quarter.
- The company invested ₹1,148 crore towards growth capital expenditure during Q1 FY27.
Business Performance Across Segments
Vedanta reported healthy operating performance across its major businesses.
Zinc India
- Achieved record first-quarter mined metal production of 268 kt, up 1% YoY.
- Refined metal production increased 4% YoY to 260 kt.
- Silver production remained steady at 149 tonnes.
- Zinc cost of production fell 16% YoY to US$851 per tonne following the underground mine transition.
Zinc International
- Mined metal production declined 14% YoY to 48 kt as the Deep mine at Black Mountain nears the end of its operational life.
- Gamsberg production remained stable at 45 kt.
Copper Business
- The Silvassa plant recorded its highest first-quarter sales in eight years at 53 kt, up 3% YoY.
- Copper rod sales at the Fujairah facility declined 51% YoY due to disruptions caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Ports Business
- The Vizag General Cargo Berth handled record discharge volume of 2,358 kt, up 40% YoY.
- Dispatch volume increased 11% YoY to 1,652 kt.
Management Commentary
Executive Director Arun Misra said the company made a strong start to FY27 with solid performance across all business segments. He highlighted record production at Zinc India, FACOR and Copper India, while noting that Zinc International continues to expand production at Gamsberg. According to him, the company's focus on higher production, cost efficiency and operational excellence continues to support growth.
Group Chief Financial Officer Ajay Goel said the proposed demerger has helped unlock shareholder value, with the combined market capitalisation of the resulting companies increasing by more than ₹71,000 crore during the first quarter. He also highlighted the company's improved balance sheet and stronger credit profile.
Vedanta Share Price Movement
Vedanta share price (NSE: VEDL ) was closed at ₹266.65 on the NSE on July 30, 2026, gaining ₹2.15 or 0.81% for the day. The stock opened at ₹265.40, touched an intraday high of ₹269.70, and a low of ₹263.25. Vedanta has a market capitalisation of ₹99,440 crore, trades at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 21.95, and has a 52-week high of ₹360.00.
