Union Bank of India Share Price in Focus; Maiden US Dollar Bond Listed at GIFT City

Union Bank of India has returned to the international debt capital market after a gap of 12 years with its first US dollar-denominated bond issuance. The issue received bids amounting to around 7.8 times the size of the offering, indicating strong demand from investors.
The bonds were listed on NSE International Exchange at GIFT City, Gandhinagar. The listing was marked by a bell-ringing ceremony organised by NSE IX.
Global Investors Show Strong Interest
The bank said the response from international investors reflected their confidence in its financial position and growth plans.
Union Bank Managing Director and CEO Asheesh Pandey said investors had evaluated the bank’s balance sheet, asset quality, capital position, governance standards and growth trajectory before placing their trust in the bank.
For Pandey, the transaction also represents a broader step in the bank’s international market presence, rather than simply another fundraising exercise.
Funding Base To Get More Diverse
Union Bank said the bond issuance will help diversify its funding sources while allowing it to build stronger relationships with international capital markets.
Pandey said the bank intends to support sectors such as infrastructure, manufacturing, MSMEs, renewable energy, logistics and technology-led businesses. He also described the latest issuance as the beginning of a wider effort to deepen engagement with international investors.
Union Bank Plans To Expand At GIFT City
The bank also plans to increase its activity at GIFT City in the coming quarters.
Pandey said the bank sees significant potential in the financial centre and intends to strengthen its presence there as part of its broader international expansion.
