UltraTech Cement Plans ₹5,000 Crore Bond Issue Ahead of RBI Policy

UltraTech Cement is planning to raise ₹5,000 crore through rupee-denominated bonds, marking its largest domestic bond fundraising so far. According to news reports, the company is in discussions with merchant bankers and arrangers to complete the issue before the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) monetary policy announcement on August 5, 2026.
The fundraising will help the company access debt markets ahead of the RBI's policy decision, which could influence borrowing costs.
Bond Issue Details
The proposed bond issue will be divided into 3 maturities:
- ₹1,500 crore through 2.5-year bonds with an annual coupon of 7.22%
- ₹1,500 crore through 3.5-year bonds with an annual coupon of 7.23%
- ₹2,000 crore through 5-year bonds with an annual coupon of 7.25%
The bonds have received the highest AAA credit rating from CRISIL, making them attractive to institutional investors such as mutual funds that prefer high-quality debt instruments.
Previous Bond Issuances and Debt Position
In March 2025, UltraTech Cement had raised ₹2,000 crore by issuing 3-year and 5-year bonds, with ₹1,000 crore raised under each tranche at an annual coupon of 7.34%.
The company currently has ₹3,500 crore of outstanding bonds, including ₹500 crore that is scheduled to mature within the next month.
Quarterly Performance Supports Fundraising
Earlier this month, UltraTech Cement reported a nearly 17% year-on-year increase in first-quarter profit. The company said its scale and strong market position helped it manage higher fuel costs caused by geopolitical tensions in West Asia better than many smaller competitors.
The planned bond issue comes as the company continues to strengthen its financial position while supporting future funding requirements.
UltraTech Cement Share Price
On July 27, 2026, UltraTech Cement share price (NSE: ULTRACEMCO) was trading at ₹11,790, down ₹56 or 0.47% during the day. The stock moved between an intraday low of ₹11,752 and a high of ₹12,000. Over the past 52 weeks, the stock has traded in the range of ₹10,325 to ₹13,110.
Conclusion
UltraTech Cement's proposed ₹5,000 crore bond issue reflects the company's effort to secure funding before the RBI's policy decision.
