As per ANI news report, Tech Mahindra has partnered with NVIDIA to introduce an education focused Large Language Model under its Project Indus initiative.
The Hindi first model is designed to reflect Indian linguistic and cultural context while supporting scalable artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The new Large Language Model (LLM) has been developed to support learning across India by offering subject level assistance, including physics and other disciplines.
The model aims to improve foundational understanding for students while addressing linguistic diversity. The initiative focuses on sovereign AI designed specifically for Indian education use cases.
The collaboration used NVIDIA AI Enterprise solutions to ensure production readiness, performance and scalability. The deployment includes the NVIDIA NeMo framework and NVIDIA NIM microservices for efficient model integration and operations.
Project Indus initially began with a 1.2 billion parameter foundational model. It has now been scaled to an 8 billion parameter architecture, reflecting a significant expansion in computational capability.
To address data gaps in specific Indian languages, the development team generated 500 million synthetic tokens using NVIDIA NeMo Data Designer.
The model also supports Agentic AI functionality, enabling autonomous agents to interact in natural Hindi. This feature is intended to facilitate AI-driven learning experiences across educational environments.
The partnership highlights the growing emphasis on sovereign AI models tailored to local languages and contexts. The platform is positioned as a resource for education and citizen centric digital services, aligning with India’s expanding digital infrastructure requirements.
