Tata Steel Transfers Ownership of Jamshedpur Football & Sporting to Churchill Brothers FC

Tata Steel has approved the transfer of its entire 100% stake in Jamshedpur Football and Sporting Private Limited (JFSPL) to Churchill Brothers Sports Club Private Limited for ₹100. The approval was given by the Committee of Directors on August 14, 2026, as per an exchange filing.
The stake being transferred comprises 4,08,00,000 equity shares of JFSPL, with a face value of ₹10 each. Tata Steel and Churchill Brothers also signed a Share Purchase Agreement on August 14, 2026.
Deal Expected to Close by August 31, 2026
The transaction is expected to be completed by August 31, 2026. The completion is subject to certain conditions, including the required approval from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and other agreed actions.
The consideration for the sale is ₹100 in cash. Tata Steel has also noted that the transaction is not a related party transaction and is not part of any scheme of arrangement.
JFSPL Reported Negative Net Worth
JFSPL recorded turnover of ₹32.23 crore in FY2025-26, which accounted for 0.01% of Tata Steel’s consolidated turnover. Its net worth stood at negative ₹5.8 crore as of March 31, 2026.
Players And ISL Licence Included
The transfer includes Jamshedpur FC’s Indian Super League (ISL) sporting licence, along with 12 players and two coaches. Churchill Brothers will take over the contracts of the players and coaching staff from September 2026.
Churchill Brothers as Buyer
Churchill Brothers Sports Club operates Churchill Brothers FC in Goa and has close to four decades of footballing history. The club has won two I-League titles. Tata Steel said the buyer is not related to its promoter or promoter group.
Tata Steel’s Football Programmes
Tata Steel said it will continue its work in grassroots and youth football. The Tata Football Academy, established in Jamshedpur in 1987, has trained over 300 cadets, of whom 150 have represented the Indian national team.

Tata Steel Share Price Performance
As of August 14, 2026, 2:08 pm, Tata Steel share price was trading at ₹183.19, a 0.90% decrease from the previous closing price.

The deal covers Tata Steel’s 100% holding in JFSPL for a cash consideration of ₹100. Completion is expected by August 31, subject to approvals.
